The downfall of New Haven Second Life, and an apology

with 2 Comments

I want to start this article with a complete and sincere apology to Cara. Part of running a blog is acknowledging when you are wrong, and we were wrong.

Earlier today, one of Linden Lab staff entered New Haven and started mass returning everything that belonged to Cara, the original landscaper of New Haven. Over 80% (at a rough estimate) of New Havens landscaping was owned by Cara. The 27 regions that make up the town have been left decimated. What happened in the following 3 to 4 hours was a slow leak of what was really going on in the background.

The above screenshot was sent out to the group showing that as far back as the beginning of April, hints were given that Cara was going to go down this road. By this point in time it had already been a number of days since “The Hurricane”.

Brian’s claim of being able to do an estate return is a complete and utter lie. It took weeks to replace the roads, at the same time the house was being replaced concurrently at the same time and a month after the original event everything stalled. People started to concentrate on single items while ignoring the chunks of the roads, most of the infrastructure of Canton and Stonybrook and around 90% of the landscaping was still under Cara’s name.

The remains of Stonybrook

All the while, Brian was asking for donations to replace Cara’s items. My question is…why were 70% of the viewable items in New Haven still under Cara’s name after getting upwards of 90,000L$ in donations? Why did the replacing of landscaping, which for several people in New Haven at the time could have done in 2 to 3 days, take more than a month to replace items belonging to Cara? Why did Brian refuse or ignore help from actual landscapers in the town? Brian had warnings as far back as the beginning of April that this might happen.

Then, last week, it appears that Cara gave Traci (the NH Manager) a warning that she had now filed a support ticket, waiting more than a month to essentially give New Haven a chance to replace all her items. At this point in time you would think that an estate owner would have pulled out all the stops, you would think. Instead, Brian buried his head in the sand, kept taking more lindens from the renters, and waited for it to happen with no warning or notice given to the paying renters who keep New Haven afloat.

Well, it happened today, and what did Brian do? He blamed Cara…again.

Anyone reading this who is still renting in New Haven, I have 4 words for you.

GET THE HELL OUT.

Seriously, get out of there. New Haven is now apparently downsizing regions because they are bleeding out residents over the past week to two weeks, and all the while, all Brian can do is blame Cara, when the same Cara WARNED Brian that this was going to happen.

Brian…done…nothing.

The apology from us is towards Cara. The original hurricane article pinned the blame on Cara or Cara’s alts/partners because we found out that Cara’s partner, Robert, was responsible for some of the damage, and Robert admitted it. However, the actions of Brian, or to be more specific, the INACTION of Brian over the past 5 to 6 weeks, have led to this. The mass returns of today are no one’s fault but Brian Lake, and Brian Lake can no longer blame Cara because the full truth is now out there.
