The Daily Board Rounds…”Farming” The Boards

So, you have made it to Part 4!

The previous two parts were all in preparation for the final 3 parts of the compendium, culminating in the “Ultimate” workout guide; however, to get to that last part, we need to lay some groundwork.

You already know, reading through the first 3 parts, that SML is a points-based, HUD-driven workout system where all the partnered gyms all have the SML equipment, but, most importantly, all have the Daily Boards. Those Daily Boards make up the backbone of the entire system, especially if you are getting into higher levels. When I say higher levels, I’m talking about Strength. While the “main level” (the green bar one) is important if you want to start your own gym, the strength level means progression from the Level 15 “Beginner” equipment, into the Level 30 “Power” equipment. Running through the system to get up to level 15, then level 30, then proceeding to get above Strength 400, so you start working out more on the power side, needs two things. Spotters, and consumables…LOTS of consumables.

At the time of writing this (April, 2026), there are 67 SML partnered gyms in Second Life. That number bounces between 60 and 70 (but closer to 70) as the months progress. Let’s take it at the current figure… 67 gyms, with 2 daily boards. That’s 134 daily boards that you can click on and either keep (in some cases) or sell the consumables. On any given “Board Round”, you can gain anywhere between 12,000 to 22,000 (or more) gold, just from “Farming” the boards. However, it’s not as easy as it sounds. The two main daily boards are in a 5-minute counter, which means you have to be at that gym for at least 5 minutes BEFORE you can grab the consumables.

Introducing the MTP HUD

There is a publicly viewable database containing all the currently active SML partner gyms, and, more importantly, which is on their daily boards, that database is here… https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZCXxUzveQOKIOQKWua3t2Wni-Gt4Br4AtvXdGrfc3-U

The database itself is run by members of the community and is the backend “server” for the MTP HUD, which is again made by members of the SML community. You can grab the HUD at the back of the Fitness Factory, where the help boards are.

Full instructions for the MTP HUD can be viewed here, but what I can do is give you the “quick and easy” way of using the HUD. Before we go into that, though, I need to lay out a few things you need to know before going through with this.

1: It will take anywhere between 4 to 5 hours to do the full round of all gyms.

2: You MUST have RLV enabled (follow the instructions on the MTP sheet)

3: You will need to go back to each gym once the round is over to pick up your consumables.

How the HUD works is simple. It grabs the SLURL from the database and automatically teleports and moves your avatar to where the boards are. It then starts a countdown and teleports out to the next gym once that countdown is over. The Daily Boards hold a list of the people who have been in their range, including the amount of time they have spent there, so if you do the full round via the HUD you can go back to that gym again (as long as it’s before the 5pm reset) and grab your consumables.

This is the way I use the HUD. I click on the hourglass and type in 300, which equates to 300 seconds…in other words, 5 minutes, then I hit submit, and the HUD essentially does the rest. The video below shows the MTP HUD taking me to the first 3 gyms on the database. I haven’t controlled the avatar at all during the video; the HUD has done everything. I have sped up the 5-minute wait time.

The MTP HUD controls everything. In the first gym, it even moved my avatar to where the boards are.

The above video was just under 20 minutes long, and it only covered less than a handful of gyms, so, yeah, “doing the rounds” takes a LOT of time. The way I do it is simple, I have an ancient laptop, I log in my avatar on that laptop, with graphics to low, draw distance at 32, and I switch my avatar to “Unavailable”, then I pop 300 seconds in the hourglass…and go to sleep for the night. When I wake up, I use the same MTP HUD, but this time I manually go to each gym using the right arrow button and the “TP” button to go through the list manually, and I grab all the consumables!

You won’t need to do this a lot; it really depends on how many consumables you end up using, but a daily board round of once or twice a week should be more than enough.

Some of you are probably wondering to yourself, “Does this mean that the people I see hanging around the daily boards are probably AFK?” Yes, most of them probably are; they are using the HUD while in RL they are sleeping, or at work. It’s a bit of a bone of contention with some gym owners who are paying thousands of lindens a week in rent for the land their gym is sitting on. Most of the time, the visitors they get are not even at the keyboard. However, with the way the SML system is set up, the daily board rounds and the AFK visitors are a necessary downside to the whole system.

So, you know about the consumables, you know about the daily boards and the MTP HUD. There is one piece of the puzzle left before we can put everything together for the “Ultimate” way to work out… let’s head into Part 5: Spotting
