SL20B – We were just not ready…

So, this is a piccy of us three doing what we usually do, dancing in front of a stage.

Now, there is nothing unusual about that. Head over to Peak Lounge, Warehouse 21 or the ReMixx and you’ll invariably find us dancing there, again, usually in front of the stage. It was Lia’s decision to park as a little dance group in front of the stage for a very simple reason, people who lag walk don’t usually make it all the way to the front of the stage, so we don’t get ran into.

Also being in front of the stage usually gives us three as a little dance group a bit more room, cause for some reason, people who go to clubs almost always never dance in front of the stage. We still don’t know why.

For the better part of two years we have been doing this as a little dance group, from the early beginnings at Franks Jazz (the copy that closed down), through the 8 months at Muddys (before we got banned) and now split between our home clubs of Warehouse, Peak and Remixx. It’s just something we do. The regulars of those clubs have gotten used to us, we are basically part of that clubs furniture when we go there.

Then we went to SL20B as a dance group, and everything went insane.

Four main stages, about 500 DJ’s and live performers and a constant stream of new people popping in and out of those stages with us three usually parked…yup…in front of the stage.

The number of enquiries we got was insane. As I am writing this article on the last day of parties on the SL20B region Lia is already in the middle of a couple of messages with questions about “The Angels” or the Three Girls In SL website. Myself (Lizzy) and Fenella have also had a lot of questions about who we are, what we do, do we work for SL20B (no we don’t), do we work for the DJ’s (again, nope, we don’t) are we moles (omfg…NO…we cant build), are we Linden alts (if we worked for The Lab, we would have bankrupted them), do we have a group, are we exhibitors, do we have a dance stage spot….it was a LOT of questions. It led us to one major conclusion.

We were just not ready for this.

All three of us were wondering what the actual draw was and why a lot of folks were shooting us IM’s. It all started with one of the Seraphim staff posting a video of us dancing at SeraPRIDE with a call out trying to track the three of us down, and it just snowballed from there. In a conversation I had with one of the dancers of Muse (who were performing at SL20B) they basically nailed it.

Yes, there are other group of people who HUD dance at clubs. You see them all the time. Out of those groups, a very small percentage of them wear the same clothing, which makes them stand out. Out of that very small group, NONE of them, including the large dance ensembles (like Muse, SLCS etc) change outfits, while dancing, with no cover and NOT get naked.

We just take it for granted now. We’re used to it, we’ve been doing it for two years and by this point in time I thought other major dance groups would have caught on to what we were doing and well, copied it. Apparently not. Charlie’s Angels as a dance group have over 800 matching outfits now, which gives us a head start, and the way the outfits are changed (and the amount of outfits we have) basically means we can tailor the look to the music the DJ is playing. It’s that aspect that got the attention.

As for why we didn’t do some kind of “set piece” at SL20B, the answer to that is simple. None of us DJ, we don’t technically know any DJ’s personally and if there was going to be a set piece set surrounding us three in something like SL20B then it would take a lot of planning. None of us are builders, so we cant build a stage either. This is why you won’t see us as a performing group, and why you’ll always see us as a group of 3 friends, just dancing away in front of the DJ.

We don’t pretend to be, or will we ever be the likes of the professional dance group like Muse who pull in 100+ people to watch them. We ain’t the Second Life Cheerleaders with specially choreographed dance routines…we are simply The Charlie’s Angels. We don’t take tips, we don’t get paid and all the outfits are bought by us, and we’re used to doing it this way.

Does this mean that there won’t be any kind of special performance from us in the future? No, it doesn’t. There is a performance idea I have in my head which I ran past the other two and they both think its a great idea, but this is for something much further in the future for RFL of 2024 or SL21B. As for right now though, yeah, we’re happy just dancing in front of a stage

Well, I missed the whole birthday thing…lol….busy summer, but the event is now over before I knew what I had missed. I don’t know why it didn’t register (20th birthday and all) but it didn’t, and I’m sorry it didn’t. Now, as to your approach to SL, I love it. You are straight up, out front and fresh and you bring a visual treat anywhere you dance.
