Portofino has ran out of ideas

The great Oscar Wilde once said “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness”

New Haven with palm trees, better known as “Portofino”, has ran out of ideas for their new region. This kind of thing happens all the time, landscapers get burn out and lift ideas from several other places. Portofino ran out of ideas from the first regions laid down. Anyone who remembers New Haven will remember the layout, look and overall design. Well, if you take that look, layout and overall design and shove a few palm tree’s here and there, you basically have Portofino.

When Magnolia City first appeared, the creator of New Haven with palm trees (AKA Portofino), Cara Olivieri, made a few cryptic comments on her Facebook page about how there was another community copying Portofino. Most people surmised that she was taking shots at Magnolia. When people from New Haven with palm trees (AKA Portofino) actually came over to Magnolia, the only thing they see was that the roads were the same. That was it. The roads.

What followed after that, was Portofino started copying the marketing that Vic Mornington was now posting for Magnolia.

Take for instance the official SL forum…

No other contemporary RP community had seen marketing and advertising the way Vic is currently doing it for Magnolia. However, no other RP community has decided to blatantly copy Vic’s style of marketing more so than, yes, Portofino (aka New Haven with palm trees). The original Magnolia post is dated in May, Portofino showed up imitating Vic’s marketing in July.

It doesnt end there though. They decided to imitate Magnolia again in what can only be described as a “two birds with one stone” approach to being added to the Editors Picks AND copying the marketing at the same time. Why did they go down the road of the Dest Guide? You guessed it, they were copying what Magnolia had already done. However, it doesnt end there…

Here’s New Haven with palm trees (aka Portofino) listing in the Destination Guide.

Doesnt that picture style, windlight and subject look familiar? It should, because it’s directly copied from one of the early marketing pictures for Magnolia…

Now, most of you are probably thinking its just a coincidence that Portofino (aka New Haven with palm trees) has practically copied step-for-step Vic Morningtons marketing. That Portofino (aka New Haven with palm trees) has copied the styling of their Destination Guide pic. That Portofino (aka New Haven with palm trees) has copied Magnolia’s path into the Destination Guide.

It’s all coincidence, right?

Here is a snapshot of the central “belt” of the Magnolia City region.

Still not convinced? Ok, how about from a different angle?

Portofino
Magnolia City

…and another angle!

Portofino

It’s one thing to copy another communitys marketing.

It’s something else to directly lift a layout of building, the type of building, the style of building and then transplant it on to your own region.

Cara accused Magnolia of copying her Portofino. like the spineless coward she is, she took down most of those posts, probably once she started to realise that people not in her immediate sycophantic narcissist circles were getting fed up with it with some of them even leaving. Where did they move to? Well, Magnolia of course, why did they move to Magnolia? Cause Portofino is basically a holding circle for future Magnolia City residents, and Cara knows it.

As Oscar Wilde once said “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness”, and there is no one more mediocre than Cara Olivieri. An estate owner so mediocre…she has to lift an entire building style from another community. An estate owner so mediocre, she has to copy the marketing from another community, and an estate owner so mediocre…she basically made another New Haven, and shoved palm tree’s in it.

We fully expect Cara to start gaslighting her followers on social media. However, this blog post, plus the video that Vic has uploaded shows all the documented proof needed to come to one single conclusion:

Cara Olivieri is an unimaginative plodder, who steals ideas and styles from other communities and claims it as “Unique”.

There will be people who continue to support cara and support her actions in stealing directly from another community, these are the kind of people who have already backstabbed and driven out people from the Portofino community. These are the same people who you would NOT want living in your own community. These are the people who Cara surrounds herself with, the basement dwellers of the contemporary RP scene who are happy with Cara being the parasite of the contemporary RP community.

Some people in the inner circles of what was New Haven blame us, the three girls in SL, for the eventual closure of New Haven itself. Well, if thats the case, then Cara Olivieri is now our new Brian Lake, and we are going to have a lot of fun uncovering her blatant bullshit and theivery.

We await Michael/Roberts fake legal threats on behalf of Cara, we’ll file them in the same bin that Cara’s reputation is now sitting in.

I currently live in Porto, and have done for a while now. I will be letting my rent lapse next month as i have basically had enough of what has been happening in Portofino. Cara and the staff turn a blind eye to two major families acting like overlords over the rest of the normal renters in Portofino. I have seen first hand several people quietly forced out of Portofino by these families due to them not wanting to partner or “team up”. with them.

From a personal standpoint, i am also a member of staff of one of the departments. All i have seen for the past 2 months in staff chat is constant chats of “Magnolia done this” or “Magnolia done that”. People who are not part of Fuhrer Cara’s inner circle are too scared to speak up to tell them all to just stop with the accusations. For some of us, it feels like we are living in Communist China. I know of at least 3 other renters who will be leaving Portofino soon, with me, that makes 4. Of the other three that i know of, one of them have said that they had abuse reported members of one of the two big families of Portofino for sexual harrasement as they attacked her for being a part of the LBGTQ community and she would not partner with a male member of this family. This same person made complaint to the higher ups of Portofino, but nothing was done.

Several members of the LGBTQ family in Portofino are starting to not feel welcome in the city because of the experiences of this person, they are in the process of leaving as well with one of them already renting in Woodland Grove. I realise, that when i leave my staff position, and leave Portofino next month, i will then out myself as the writer of this comment, but i dont care. Cara is a dictator, who lets her friends rule over Portofino like its some communist dictatorship.

I want to thank you for coming forward with this comment. When you do leave, a simple block after the first message will stop them from contacting you with retribution. After that, abuse report them.

No matter where you move to, I hope that you find your next community a peaceful place that you can settle into.

Not really surprised by this. Portofino seems to have a hard time with new towns & they are obsessed with Magnolia. Scarlett can be pretty dismissive, Harlowe treats the place more like a dating app than a community, and Cara, even though she seems nice, is always worried about people leaving. The rest are just thirsty for their approval. They tend to trash other communities, which doesn’t help. The management is tough to deal with—if you don’t keep flattering them, it gets uncomfortable. I’m planning to move my family once our free weeks are over. We visited Magnolia but chose York Hill because of the schools. Magnolia is wonderful, and we’re excited about spending vacations there in the future.

Portofino could be great, but the management issues are a big problem. I’ll conclude with a message to Cara: Portofino is lovely, but the aggressive tactics from your family and staff are the same kind of drama that ruined New Haven. Stop criticizing people who choose to live in or visit other communities. Accept that other communities can be just as great as this one. If you don’t get your staff under control, the bad reputation will eventually overshadow the beauty of the place. It’s time to put a stop to it.
