Hi! Thanks for coming this far and checking to see what we can offer you as a creator, so, first up, lets tackle the core question…

What is this going to cost me?

We (as in the Charlie’s Angels) are not in this to make a ton of cash. We’re in this to give vendors, old and new, a better margin on their returns, while at the same time making us enough Lindens to throw it back into the rent and put aside a little for future expansions and rebuilds of the Retailpalooza platform. So, here is the price cap guarantee, and yes, this page is public, so everyone can see it.

Retailpalooza Rounds 1 to 5 (July ~ November 2026) – Half Region
90 wall booths, 40LI @ 500L$
No sponsor booths

Some of you are probably getting your calculator out…well, it’s 45,000L$ per month long event. The first 6 Retailpalooza events will not go above 500L$ per booth. No matter how much coverage and how busy it gets for the first 6 events, the current price of 500L$ per event to the creator will remain. Half of that 45K will go towards paying for the land we are renting and other costs (advertising, Seraphim etc) associated with running an event like this, the rest will be held back to pay for what comes next…

Retailpalooza Round 6 (December 2026) onwards – Full 20K Region
100 standard wall booths, 60LI @ 650$
10 Large Booths at the entrance, 2X width, 100LI, 1200L$
8 Floor Booths on main floor, with demo rezzer in sky, in a parcelled and land description titled 1024sqm(or maybe 900sqm) plot area, 300LI, 2100L$

Ok, quick maths folks! 100 booths x 600L$ = 65K. 10 sponsored entrance booths x 1200L$ = 10K and finally 8 sponsored floor booths (with a 300prim usage limit, plus demo platforms) x 2100L$ = 16.8K

Total is 91800L$. Remove the average of 60,000L$ for the rental of a 20,000 prim region (we won’t need a 30K region), and that leaves me and the girls with 31800L$ profit. Remove about 8k from that for Seraphim and SugarSL marketing, that leaves us with about 23800L$, which we will then use to pay for the rent for own own half region that houses our gym and park. To the casual onlooker reading this, that does sound like a lot. However, for most (but not ALL) of the current shopping events charging double what we listed above for a wall vendor, double what we listed above for sponsorships, and then taking in as profit 70k to over 100k, yeah, puts it into perspective, and again, the prices mentioned above are FIXED. No matter how busy the event gets, or how “SL Famous” it gets, those prices will not change.

If we raise the event rental of the booths, you are all welcome to drag us through the mud in public! You are also all encouraged to add this particular page to the Internet Archive (what was called the “Way Back Machine”) so there is an online archived version of this page so people can go check!

There may be more booths added…but the current booth and sponsorship prices, along with the LI (Land Impacts) listed above, will remain fixed.

Thats a LOT of booths which means a lot of script lag!!!!

This isn’t 2018. Most creators (including you reading this) are probably using CasperVEND. The CasperVEND system essentially puts a lot of its scripts to “sleep” if no one has touched the vendor for a while. Most of the actual lag comes from the people teleporting in, and people teleporting out. Thats why there are lag “spikes” on sales regions. It’s not the vendors, it’s the people entering and leaving the region. When Retailpalooza moves to its own region, hopefully for the December event, we will be limiting the number of people on the sim at any one time to 80.

So will this be marketed?

Yup! Via the usual two platforms…Seraphim and SugarSL, along with independent bloggers from the Blogger & Vlogger group in Second Life. By the time the first round is being planned, Retailpalooza will also have its own FB page and its own paged section on this site (3girlsinsl). We are hoping to launch a separate site for Retailpalooza by the time we switch to a full region.

Why are you locking the price in this early?

All we want is enough income from the booths and sponsorships to pay for the land it’s on, enough income to pay for the marketing, with a little left over to pay for the half region we are already renting for our gym and botanical park. So many large shopping events have been increasing their prices to the point that creators who sign up are sometimes not even cutting even!

Many (but again, not all) of the events that are now charging over 2k for a wall booth, and 4k to 7k for larger booths originally had their prices almost the exact same as ours…but then the booth rentals started to creep up, and up, and up. A lot of the shopping events now are so expensive that they have priced out the new creators from taking part and are relying on the larger creators to prop up their shopping events.

After chatting with Vic Mornington, who ran The Great Exhibition Victorian and Steampunk event by himself (yeah, he had NO help) which took place at New Babbage and had over 70 vendors take part, he basically told us to “keep it simple and keep the overheads to none, or a bare minimum”. That’s why with all 4 of us (including Vic) running this, we don’t need staffing. One of us is very handy with WordPress, so we won’t need to pay a web designer, and we already have our own web server as well. Basically, there will only be really two outgoings for Retailpalooza. The rent for the region…and the marketing costs for Seraphim, SugarSL and possibly SL Enquirer and a few others.

We are NOT going to be the kind of event that slowly creeps up the prices to the point that 8 or 9 months down the road, the smaller creators can no longer take part. Will it make us enemies in the big wide world of shopping events? Yes. Do we care? No.

FULL Transparency By “The Organisers”

Yup, you read that right. During the first week of opening the events, we will post the total amount of Lindens from the booths and sponsorships… publicly and in the open. We will also break down how much of that cash went to land rental, and marketing…cause hey folks, it ain’t cheap advertising on Seraphim and SugarSL. We’ll end the tally with how much profit was actually made by us. The final tally will be made public at the event itself on a texture displayed at the landing point.

Ok..sounds good, what are the rules?

We’re going to keep the rules as simple as possible.

1: No Adult Vendor Images.

This one’s a given. The events will be on M-rated land; full nudity on the vendor images is a no-no.

2: Exclusive Item

This one’s also a given. What’s one of the main drivers of these types of events? Exclusive items for that particular event. It also can’t be sold in your main shop until the final week of that round of Retailpalooza. The Exclusive item must be clearly seen on your display as well…we hate it when the exclusive is buried behind other vendors and booth decor.

3: An Open Floor To All

We are not limiting the booths and sponsors to only clothing makers; we are opening the event up to ALL. Whether you are a clothier, house builder, car maker, SL kids creator…if you make something, and you have a good catalogue of items in your shop, if you manage to apply before the booths are all gone…then you are in.

4: Wait…”Good Catalogue” Of Items?!

This is something we have talked about between us. “Established” vs “New Kids On The Retail Block”. Established names bring in the foot traffic, but new retailers can bring in new ideas. So we have come up with a simple rule. When applying, you must show that you have at least 10 separate items available for sale in your in-world store or Marketplace. We think 10 is a good minimum number.

5: No Sounds Or Chat Spam At Your Booth

This one’s a given as well, we hate radar-based chat spam and noise when shopping. Touch to collect notecards or landmarks to your store is fine, of course, but walk in range radar based local chat? Or a repeated sound over and over again?. No… just… no.

The Logistics

So, here’s a quick rundown of how this is going to run. There will be two Retailpalooza platforms in the sky, exact copies of each other. One and a half weeks before the event starts, the creators who filled out the application form will be contacted, and a landmark will be given. It is up to the creator to choose which booth or sponsorship spot they want, and it will be a case of “First come…first serve”. We will be going through the application in the order they came in, we won’t be playing favourites to any store or individual. To grab a booth or sponsorhip spot…just pay the rental box. All rental boxes will be deleted 2 days before the event to claw back script time.

“Build week” will be the full 11 days preceding the beginning of the event, so, let’s say we are planning for the November round, we will be opening the platform up on October 21st, for the event to start on November 1st. We will be asking that creators have their booths mostly done and ready four days before the event starts, because usually Seraphim and Sugar send in their bloggers three days before the event starts.

If a booth which has been paid for is still empty 5 days before the event starts, that creator will be messaged. If there is no reply on the fourth day before the event opening, their booth will be held over to the next creator in line for a booth who didn’t manage to get one. with a 50% refund to the creator who originally rented that booth.

By the beginning (roughly speaking) of the third week of the November event hypothesised above, the second platform will be opened up for “Build Week” for the December event. During the first week of the December event, the November platform will be cleared…ready for the January event…and so on.

ALL CREATORS WHO GET A CONFIRMATION FROM US OF GETTING A BOOTH FOR RETAILPALOOZA WILL BE GIVEN A COPY OF THE BOOTH, SO THEY CAN PREPARE THEIR BOOTH SPOT BEFORE BUILD WEEK EVEN STARTS!

All Retailpalooza events will run from that event’s first day of the month, and end on the 25th of that month. The remainder of that month will be used by us to prepare for the following month’s event!

Applications will be open for future events from the 1st to the 18th of the previous month.

The Organisers

The organisers for the Retailpalooza are Liandra Aries, Fenella Baily and Liza Blackwood, the “3girlsinsl” or “The Charlies Angels” which is the group tag we usually have on when out at Warehouse 21 or Peak Lounge. Input and planning from Vic Mornington who planned the old Great Exhibition Steampunk Sales events for New Babbage.

Ok, that was a long read! >.< How do I apply!
